Female Founding News

Hi and welcome to the Wrap, a quick look at the week that was, I’m Diana Dorahy.

In funding news this week…

Insider, the global company providing AI powered marketing solutions, has announced it’s just completed a $32M Series C round.

With the new injection of capital, the company says its goal is to become the #1 platform of choice for marketers worldwide. They’re currently in 24 countries and used by big name brands such as Toyota, IKEA, Samsung, Virgin Airlines, Allianz and UNIQLO.

CrunchBase has recently ranked Insider’s co-founder CEO Hande Cilingir as one of the top three women CEOs outside of the US.

In other funding news, the first “Green Deal” funding from the European Innovation Council has awarded more than €307 million to 64 startups. It’s all about support for Europe’s recovery plan. And what’s more, a little over a third of those companies are headed by female CEOs.

My story of the week this week….

Goes to a piece in Prestige – an interview with the cofounders of luxury leather goods brand, Senreve, Coral Chung and Wendy Wen.

Chung went to university in Hong Kong and is a big market for the US based-brand.

So far they’ve raised $23 million.

The article is a nice Q&A about how the origins of the business and how their bags have attracted celebrity following.

My tip of the week this week…..

Comes from a piece Nicole has written on the benefits of crowdfunding particularly for female founders. She says, because crowdfunding democratizes access to capital and allows potential customers to decide which companies to support, female entrepreneurs find a higher level of success that in traditional methods of raising funds to get started.

In fact, one study found that the female success rate for crowdfunding campaigns was 69.5% compared to men at 61.4%. Definitely worth thinking about.

Coming up next week on Next Chapter Raise….
